Meter stack installations and upgrades
Modern, space saving solutions for multi unit properties that allow individual metering.
Learn more →Pearblossom sits along the highway with a mix of ranch parcels and small older homes, many still on original overhead services. Replacement work here usually means coordinating an Edison disconnect and a county inspection on the same day so nobody sits without power.
Pear farms along the south edge of the valley gave Pearblossom its name. Most of those orchards are gone now, either back to desert or split into small home sites, so the housing is a scatter of small older homes, ranch parcels and manufactured homes along Pearblossom Highway and the side roads off it. Plenty of properties still carry their original overhead service, with a weatherhead on the roof and a meter that has taken decades of wind and sun.
State Route 138 runs right through town and carries heavy truck and weekend traffic toward Las Vegas, and a few small businesses sit among the homes along it. Many calls come after a property changes hands and needs its electrical brought up to date before a lender or insurer will sign off. Others come from owners adding a well pump, a second unit for family or an EV charger for the long drive into Palmdale or the basin.
Many Pearblossom homes still run on original overhead services sized long before central air, well pumps and chargers were common.
How we handle it →Small older homes on former orchard land here often have original or owner extended wiring that lenders and insurers want corrected.
How we handle it →Pearblossom residents drive long distances on Highway 138 and the 14, which makes a dedicated Level 2 circuit a practical upgrade.
How we handle it →Electrical work in Pearblossom is permitted through LA County Public Works (unincorporated), and the service is energized by Southern California Edison. We handle the permit application, the plan check where one is required, the inspection scheduling and the utility coordination as part of the job.
With no city hall in Pearblossom, electrical permits come from LA County Public Works. Edison owns the overhead drop. On an upgrade, the permit is filed first, then Edison sets the disconnect, and we replace the mast, meter base and panel as needed. After the county inspector signs off, Edison receives the release and reconnects. If the mast or weatherhead changes height or location, Edison's own service requirements come into play too.
Usually. When the service size goes up, the service entrance conductors, meter base and often the mast are replaced so everything matches the new rating. Edison also has height and clearance rules for the point where its drop attaches. We check the existing mast, plan any changes to meet those rules and coordinate with Edison so the drop is transferred during the same outage.
The usual list is an outdated panel brand, an undersized or damaged service, missing grounding, two prong outlets and wiring added without permits. Sun damaged meter enclosures and loose service drops also come up. We walk the property, identify what actually needs to change to satisfy the lender or carrier and provide the permit and inspection paperwork they ask for.

Pearblossom is served by Southern California Edison. On a service upgrade or a meter stack the utility has to disconnect and reconnect the service, and Morff Electric coordinates that scheduling so the outage stays as short as possible.
