Learn more →Antelope Acres is agricultural and rural residential with wells, pumps and shops sharing one service. That load mix is what pushes properties here past 200 amps, and the permit runs through LA County.
Roughly 2,800 people live in Antelope Acres, a rural community north of Del Sur centered near Avenue D and 90th Street West, with the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve just to the west. Land use is agricultural and ranch style, with livestock, field crops and an active 4-H tradition. Homes are mostly single family houses and manufactured homes on large parcels, alongside barns, hay storage, pens and equipment sheds, often spread far enough apart that each building needs its own feeder.
Many residents commute to Lancaster or beyond, so the house still has to work like a suburban home while the land works like a small farm. That shows up as chargers next to livestock waterers and a home office next to a welding shop. Older ranch houses here also tend to have panels that were never meant to feed this much equipment, and buried feeders to barns are often decades old and hard to trace.
Pumps, barns, shops and the house share one service on many Antelope Acres properties, and the original main is often too small.
How we handle it →Commutes from Antelope Acres to Lancaster and beyond make a home charger practical, often planned alongside a service upgrade.
How we handle it →Older ranch houses here that still carry Zinsco or Federal Pacific panels are increasingly hard to insure without replacement.
How we handle it →Electrical work in Antelope Acres is permitted through LA County Public Works (unincorporated), and the service is energized by Southern California Edison. We handle the permit application, the plan check where one is required, the inspection scheduling and the utility coordination as part of the job.
Antelope Acres is unincorporated, so permits come from LA County Public Works, and Edison provides the power. Large agricultural pumps sometimes call for a separate meter or a different service arrangement with Edison, and that is worth deciding before the design is final. Otherwise the order is standard: county permit, Edison disconnect, installation, county inspection, release and reconnect.
It depends on the pump size and how it is used. A domestic well pump usually stays on the house service. A large irrigation pump may qualify for a separate agricultural meter and rate with Edison, which can make sense for cost and load reasons. We look at the pump specs and your usage and help you decide before the design is finalized.
It can. A barn subpanel is fed by an underground feeder from the main service, with its own grounding electrode at the barn. Barns need damp location rated fixtures and GFCI protection, and the feeder must be sized for lights, waterers, fans and any heaters. If the main service lacks capacity, we plan an upgrade at the same time.
Electrical permits in Antelope Acres are issued by LA County Public Works (unincorporated). Morff Electric handles the permit application, the plan check where one is required, and the inspection scheduling as part of the job.
Antelope Acres is served by Southern California Edison. On a service upgrade or a meter stack the utility has to disconnect and reconnect the service, and Morff Electric coordinates that scheduling so the outage stays as short as possible.
